Holcim to Sponsor Welcome Reception at AIA Convention

BOSTON, May 14, 2008 – Holcim (US) Inc. will be the principal sponsor of the “Welcome to Boston” reception at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) annual convention, which runs from May 15-17 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The reception is the kick-off event for the convention and will be held at the new Institute of Contemporary Art on Wednesday, May 14th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Boston Society of Architects (BSA), Governor Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas M. Menino are co-hosting the event, and the governor, mayor and AIA president Marshall Purnell will address the attendees.

“Holcim is pleased to sponsor the ‘Welcome to Boston’ reception and we wish all AIA members a successful convention,” said Patrick Dolberg, President and CEO of Holcim (US). “We look to the architect community to design and create the structures for the future, and we at Holcim are committed to provide the materials that will help them build these structures in a greener, more sustainable manner.“

More than 300 invited guests are expected to attend the reception, including board members of both AIA and BSA, local leaders from the arts, education and real estate, and representatives of the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to sponsoring the kick-off reception, Holcim is the sponsor for the Dunkin’ Donuts refreshment program for the convention.
